there is sometimes only so much that you can do on your own. That's why we've teamed up with Chris Statham, who can offer you the kind of support that will allow you to take your cycling or triathlon to the next level. Chris can work with you on-site from our new fitting and therapy studio or, he can travel to a location of your choice. At our main shop we have changing and shower facilities, as well as of course, our cafe, in which you can relax afterwards.
Chris usually practices here on Thursday mornings and Friday afternoons. Other times can also be accommodated by appointment. To book a coaching, fit test or massage session with Chris, phone him on: 07976 269 207.
Triathlon/Sports Coaching 1:1
£40 (1 hour) - with Chris
With over 20 years combined experience in coaching running, cycling, swimming and strength and conditioning, Chris will work with you to minimise weaknesses and maximise your strengths, driving you to your best results come race day. Chris will meet you at a mutually convenient and appropriate venue. He uses cutting edge techniques such as video analysis software to ensure that you get the most from your session and will suggest next steps following the session to continue the improvements. We also give follow up feedback online for you to review in your own time. Sessions are suitable for all levels.
Typical coached sessions are:
- Bike handling skills, including how to ride in a group
- Running track sessions using specific paces
- Triathlon ‘brick’ sessions where we train to run after cycling
- Open water swimming skills and techniques
- Strength and conditioning work to build the body’s core
- ‘T2’ bike to run triathlon transition practice
Functional Threshold Testing
£60 Single Sport, £100 Triathlon - with Chris
For those of you who like to take your cycling more seriously, Chris explains how Functional Threshold testing can help you:
“Understanding how hard to push each session and when to ease back is a critical factor in maximising performance and minimising injuries. By having your functional threshold power and heart rate tested under strict conditions, the guess work is taken out of your training and replaced with specific intensity zones; allowing you to focus fully on your session, safe in the knowledge you are making maximum gains.”
The test takes approximately 1 hour for the cycling test and 2 hours for the triathlon test which includes pace analysis for running off the bike. Your results are then analysed and processed. You will then be given a spread sheet with easy to understand results. This will include your heart rate zones, power zones and your power to weight ratio.
