The Genesis iO Series is the ultimate reaction to the harsh riding conditions our little island is sometimes (in)famous for. Building on the Latitude/Altitude MTB series, Genesis has pioneered an affordable hub geared mountain bike to great acclaim from the cycling press. Reynolds steel frames again take care of holding it all together. The bikes can be ridden off road several times with only a little more maintenance than oiling the chain, and then used all week, ready for the next weekend's adventure.

Building on the success of the original Alfine hub gear, Shimano have introduced a brand new 11 speed model for 2011. Available on the iO iD frameset, the Alfine 11 offers a wider gear ratio of 409% (compared to 306% on the 8 speed version), and is also 90g lighter thanks to the completely new helical gear system. Helical gears feature an angled teeth profile, engaging more gradually than a straight cut profile, meaning smoother and quieter shifting. It also features a redesigned 'oil bath' lubrication system instead of grease (akin to the legendary Rohloff), giving greater durability and longevity.

Featuring the same spec as the 8 speed iO iD, with Rockshox Recon Gold forks, Shimano transmission and DT Swiss rims, the 11 speed version gives you extra range and extra versatility.
