Ridgeback's Avenida range is the brand's offering of lightweight, low maintenance town bikes. Characterised primarily by hub gearing, comfortable riding position, chain guard and kick stand, these bikes direct a respectful tip of the hat to the classic British 3 speeds of yore from the likes of Raleigh and BSA and give them a modern twist. Ridgeback's designers have recognised the importance of this sector of the UK cycling market and have combined sensible Shimano specification with understated aesthetics to bring the classic British shopper back to life. A 3/4 length chain guard means your best bell bottoms are safe from the mucky bits.
Women's models feature a user-friendly, ultra-low step-through frame and a handlebar mounted quick-release wicker basket. We like the low weight, the low maintenance and the swept comfy handlebar.
The Ridgeback Avenida 6 is the entry level bike in the Metro range. In an effort to keep things very light and simple, the designers have come up with this, a 6 speed Shimano derailleur geared town bike with 3/4 length chain guard. Sharing all of the comfort benefits of the rest of the Metro range, it's the lightest and the cheapest and should fit the bill for those looking for a light and comfortable and economical town bike.
This bike is good for short commutes and utitlity rides and the odd leisurely jaunt on the open road. Anything more frequent or intensive and you should be looking for a higher spec. Comes with a quick release wicker basket.
