Ridgeback's Rapide range of bikes is the brand's highly successful staple range of versatile all-rounders. These bikes are good value but high quality British designed bikes either lightly equipped with rack and mudguards or unequipped for a more sporty look.

We like them for their smart understated styling; their general lack of suspension forks, which we feel to be unecessary for this class of bike; and their more consistent use of high quality Shimano parts than you will find on other brands. We`feel that they are also pretty light for their type - especially the cheaper models.

The Women's Velocity introduces a lightweight double butted aluminium frame with open-frame geometry and reduced dimensions to give low stand-over height. Propelled and stopped by Shimano's dependable Acera 24 speed componentry like the men's model, the women's Velocity also benefits from the addition of a woman specific saddle to enhance comfort at the principal contact zone. In common with most of the Rapide series, smooth-rolling, high spec Continental Contact tyres reduce the likelihood of puncture trauma. Can be used for medium distance road rides or more leisurely jaunts, but with addition of mudguards and rack, could be an ideal light commuter.

We like it for its light and responsive ride at an affordable price.
