The Ridgeback Folding range is made by Dahon, but because Ridgeback is a UK company their bikes are specified with the needs of the UK market in mind.
Three bikes are offered in this range, from £269.99 to £569.99. All are characterised by the classic Dahon 20" wheels, the hingeing handlebar post, the main frame hinge and the magnetic latch for locking the folded halves. All of them are offered with mudguards, rack, kickstand and complimentary carry bag.
The three models slot into our extensive range of folding bikes by providing a reliable 6 speed at the entry level, a high quality 7 speed in the low-to-mid range and a great value 7 speed hub geared commuter.
We think you'll agree that the value for money offered by the Ridgeback folders is hard to equal
Another bike built by Dahon, the Ridgeback Attache boasts a light weight doube-butted aluminium frame and features at its heart the ever reliable Shimano Nexus Inter 7 hub gear. Useful in its own right on any bike by virtue of low maintenance and convenience, the hub gear comes into its own when combined with a folding bike, where the lack of derailleur to foul, break or just make things dirty is highly desirable. Revoshifter gear changes are clean and simple, especially when you've had to come to a stop in top gear and you can select a low gear while stationary to pull away again.
The impressive list of extras available with this bike includes the light weight Dahon Arclite rear rack with carrier elastics, a kickstand, mudguards and a 3/4 length chain guard and not forgetting the carry bag thrown in as well.
This bike is significantly cheaper than its nearest competition from Dahon, the Vitesse D7HG and of equivalent weight.
Finished in a very cool looking matte black, this bike is, we think, perfect for day-to-day commuting and regular use on holiday or other travelling.
