Ridgeback's Rapide range of bikes is the brand's highly successful staple range of versatile all-rounders. These bikes are good value but high quality British designed bikes either lightly equipped with rack and mudguards, unequipped for a more sporty look.

We like them for their smart understated styling; their general lack of suspension forks - which we feel to be unecessary in this class of bike; and their more consistent use of high quality Shimano parts than you will find on other brands. We also feel that they are particularly lightweight for this type - especially the cheaper models.

The Ridgeback Comet is a nicely lightweight, unequipped hybrid with plenty of Shimano gears and an adjustable handlebar stem to give you a choice of riding positions. Its light and strong wheelset rolls fast, shod with the puncture resistant Continental Contact tyres. While still largely comfort-oriented, with its upgraded transmission it will be more suited to the day to day grind than the cheaper Motion and would also be ideal as a budget base for an equipped child carrier.
