The Cannondale Tesoro range is a new grouping for 2010 and combines elements of previous seasons’ Street derailleur and Trekking bikes with the classic and flat-bar tourers. With short wheelbase and laid-back geometry, the range allows you to plan travels further afield on the road: an attainable aspiration given the wide spread of gears and high spec tyres supplied.

Using their acclaimed expertise in aluminium frame building, Cannondale have developed a new frame design for the Tesoro. The new frame gives good resistance to the torsional loads associated with pannier loading, while retaining light weight and offering what is called ‘”vertical compliance” (= a comfortable ride).

The Tesoro range deserves the epithet “multi-modal”.

The Cannondale Tesoro Traveller Classic is what it says it is – a tourer in the classic, British drop handlebar mould. Using a beautiful and compliant aluminium frame crafted using their legendary expertise with the material, Cannondale have added a pair of extra strong 700c wheels driven by a broad range of high quality Shimano road gearing. Kitted with the best racks available from Tubus, front and rear, a suspension seat post and the classic Brooks B17 leather saddle, this bike will carry you and your equipment all day in smooth, efficient comfort. The high position of the drop handlebar allows an even weight distribution between saddle and handlebars and allows a good view without back or neck ache, something you’ll appreciate during the course of a day. It’s quite likely that at the end of a day’s ride, the mile count will surprise you.

Why not steel? Aluminium doesn't have to be so stiff say Cannondale, who pioneered aluminium bicycle frame construction way back in the eighties. By careful design, the thickness of the walls of aluminium tubing can be manipulated to be stiff where necessary and a little more compliant where not. The result is a frame that is not only lighter, but also more responsive they argue. Cannondale only has to point to the sales of this touring bike over the years in order to prove their point. We've sold plenty and had no complaints yet!
