2008 - Situation Vacant
For a temporary full time Retail Assistant or a
Cycle Technician/Retail Assistant - June - October 2008. 12.5-15K
We
are currently looking for a member of staff to work as a Retail Assistant
(RA), or as a Retail Assistant/Cycle Tecnician(TRA) to work for four
months this summer 2008 with the possibility of weekend work thereafter.

Time Positions
We tend to recruit for
part time staff more often than full time staff, so if you are looking
for anything from 9 hours per week or more then why not contact us.
The job roles are basically the same as below, though these roles do
not have to be permanent. We are always on the look out for part time
in the Summer months - roughly May-September.

York's
busiest bike shop is always looking for good people. We welcome speculative
applications for workshop staff and retail assistants. Cycling is a
rapidly developing and increasingly fashionable form of leisure and
transport in the UK and Cycle Heaven is leading the way. Would you like

Ideally, for retail positions you should...
- Have good communication and presentation skills, aware
how image counts, neat and tidy. Keeping up appearances will be a
major responsibility.
- Have
a friendly, outgoing, but patient personality. Improving customer
service will be a key element of this job. An understanding of the
nature of customer service and the ability to deliver it with a smile
at all times is essential to the job.
- Be
creative/artistic. Much of the job will involve merchandising.
The ability to design product and window displays is an essential
aspect of the position.
- Have
an interest in fashion and clothing. This is an important
sector of our business. Experience in clothing retail or an eye for
fashion would be highly valued here.
- Be
a team player. At Cycle Heaven you will be part of a small
team. You will need the ability to work comfortably and efficiently
together with other people.
- Be
a fast learner. This is a very busy shop and you have to learn
and think on your feet. We will do our best to induct and train you
properly according to a Personal Development Plan, however you will
need to be a flexible and proactive in your work.
- Be
passionate about cycling or passionate about its possibilities
for yourself. You don't have to be a cycling enthusiast, but an interest
in riding any kind of bike, sport, keep fit, or outdoor activities
in general, is important. Initially no specialist knowledge would
be assumed.
Ideally,
for workshop positions you should...
- Be practically or mechanically minded. Are you good
with your hands? Do you like DIY? Would you fix your own bike if you
knew how? Then perhaps you could be a star cycle mechanic. Experience
is not necessary. We look for natural ability and potential. We will
teach you the rest and train you to full accredited status.
- Have communication and presentation skills. As a mechanic
at Cycle Heaven you will have to sell, explain and interpret your
work to our customers. You will also have to sell components, accessories,
clothing and bikes sooner than you think.
- Be a team player. At Cycle Heaven you will be part
of a small team. You will need the ability to work efficiently together
with other people in often confined circumstances.
- Be proactive and a fast learner. This is a very busy
shop and you have to learn and think on your feet. We are also a rapidly
developing business and you will have to grow with us.
- Have a friendly, outgoing, but patient personality. Enhancement
of customer service will be a key element of this job.
- Be neat, tidy and presentable at all times. Cycle
Heaven has an open workshop. You and your work will always be on display
in front of our customers.
- Be committed to living and working in York. This is
a full time position and we are a steadily growing business that is
committed to this community in the long term.
- Be
interested in cycling about cycling or excited about its possibilities.You
don't have to be an all out cycling enthusiast, but an interest in
sports, keep fit, exercise, or alternative transport, or outdoor activities
in general, is vital. Initially no specialist knowledge would be assumed.
