Cycle Heaven is a local, independent business of twenty-seven years standing and we wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the support of you - our fantastically loyal customers. We’d like to take this moment to say thanks for all your support over these years and also to tell you how we’ll be dealing with the present crisis.
For now, cycle shops are exempted from the closure notice, so we intend to stay open at two locations, with tight restrictions in order to provide for essential needs. We will leave it up to you to decide what is 'essential', but please note that we are not open for browsing.
We’d like to assure you that we are following all the official guidelines in regard to countering Covid-19 and then some. This includes, among other measures, a super-enhanced cleaning regime that involves disinfecting all our touchable surfaces multiple times daily; the installation of an extra handwashing facility directly insdie the entrance to the main store for visitors to use, as well as following all the necessary procedures regarding personal hygiene and self-isolation of staff.
We do have a large and spacious shop and we request that you maintain the 2 metre social distancing rule and follow the protocols that are clearly signed. Should you decide to visit us, we'd like to ask that you avoid visiting in groups other than those that you isolate with. We ask you to avoid touching surfaces and also bikes, without supervision. This particularly applies to children’s ad-hoc test rides in store. With appropriate supervision, we can ensure that all the bikes that we deal with in our stores – be they yours, or 'ours', can be appropriately sanitised before handover.
We have always prided ourselves on our personalised face-to-face business model, but if you are concerned about coming into our shops and conducting unnecessary transactions, we are happy to carry them out remotely, as you wish. Please note that you can pay by phone and we are looking at alternative ways of doing business – including deliveries and ecommerce. Watch this space for further details.
Like many businesses, we are facing a crisis of existential proportions and like most individuals too, our staff are facing personal challenges – as carers of children, sick and elderly relatives, as partners to health workers and as members of the community. Times are hard, but everyone in this team is stepping up to the best of their ability and we are very proud and very grateful for their efforts!
We think it’s important that we stay open because cycling has much to offer in these difficult times – as a resilient and safe alternative to public transport; for its direct health and fitness benefits; but most of all, because of the psychological relief it’s going to offer us when we’d otherwise be cooped up all day. Short of a full lock down, you can get out there, ride and thrive - as we’ve always said, cycling is a liberator from the ills of modernity! We’ll do our best to support you.
Sincerely and with all our best wishes
The Team at Cycle Heaven
