The Birdy Touring features a simple Shimano 10 speed gearing system that can cope with most touring adventures. This is the bike that you really can pack up and take on foreign tours. If you fit the rear rack and front low riders the Birdy Touring the bike will still fold as usual, but will carry four small panniers and give you a knee-friendly gear to haul them up the steepest gradients.
With the Shimano hydraulic discs, you no longer have the hassle of keeping your V-brake pads adjusted and clean or the worry of overheating and abrading your wheel rims on long descents loaded up with panniers front and rear. One finger, reliable, all-weather braking is what you get. Shimano disc brake pads are available pretty much everywhere.
Optional Supernova dynamo lighting is availble for all day safe riding.
Full suspension monocoque
White, Cyan, Graphite Matt
The Birdy from the German company Riese und Müller is a full suspension folding bike with superior road performance and some off road potential. The Birdy's fold allows it to retain a jointless main frame that is solid and stable. The use of an aluminium monocoque frame makes it very, very light. The use of a swingarm both front and rear allows full suspension and folding. All this adds up to a bike that's light, fast and fun to ride.
Although the Birdy enjoys all the generic advantages of any folder - namely compact portability, it is best suited to those who seek a faster ride and to cover longer distances than the Brompton. It does not have quite such an easy or compact fold as the Brompton, but it is lighter for lugging around!
The Birdy is a configurable cycle. Simply choose your colour, transmission option and accessories. The accessories can also be added on at a later date.
