WILLIAM FOTHERINGHAM - BERYL BURTON
Wednesday 25th September 2019 7pm

William Fotheringham's biography of Yorkshire legend Beryl Burton is out in September. Come and hear acclaimed cycling journalist William Fotheringham talk about this remarkable woman and to sign copies of his new book - fresh off the press.

A prolific world and national champion on road and track, whose career lasted more than 25 years, Beryl Burton dominated women’s racing in the UK during the 1960s and 1970s, taking almost 100 national titles. She not only spoke out for equality in cycle racing but also challenged stereotypes by the way she rode: she competed on equal terms with men, and managed an unheard-of feat in setting an absolute British record for distance covered over 12 hours in 1967.

Come along for what promises to be a very special evening. Ticket price includes a glass of wine and tasty nibbles.
